About the Role
The 3rd Assistant Meat Manager supports the Meat Manager and Assistant Meat Manager in planning, directing, and managing the daily operations of the Meat Department. This role helps ensure product quality, customer service excellence, food safety, and merchandising standards, while supporting employee training and department goals.
What You’ll Do:
- Leadership & Supervision: Act as a role model, delegate tasks effectively, and enforce company rules and safety standards.
- Customer Service: Deliver outstanding service and maintain a clean, well-stocked, and welcoming department.
- Manager Support: Assume the responsibilities of the Assistant Meat Manager in their absence; plan and oversee department activities.
- Team Development: Train, coach, and recognize employees; enforce discipline and recommend promotions when appropriate.
- Operations: Assist with orders, inventory control, reviewing invoices, and maintaining accurate records of purchases, sales, and transfers.
- Product Quality: Maintain consistency in freshness, quality, and presentation of meat, pescadería, and cremería products; follow schematics provided by supervisors.
- Merchandising: Rotate and replenish items, maintain signage, and ensure compliance with food storage temperatures and health regulations.
- Compliance & Safety: Enforce Vallarta’s Safety Program, correct unsafe acts or conditions, and ensure compliance with health codes, weights, and measures regulations.
- Sanitation: Maintain department cleanliness, including floors, counters, and equipment.
- Other Duties: Assist in all areas of the Meat Department, attend meetings, and support store leadership as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand and walk constantly (6–8+ hours/day).
- Frequently bend, squat, twist, kneel, and reach above/below shoulders.
- Frequent hand use for simple grasping, power grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
- Lift and carry up to 25 lbs. frequently, up to 50 lbs. occasionally; heaviest item required to carry: 65 lbs. (box), up to 100 feet.
- Operate cars, trucks, forklifts, and other moving equipment.
- Work near equipment and machinery; exposure to noise and temperature/humidity changes.
- No work at heights required.
What We’re Looking For:
- Knowledge of meats, seafood, and cremeria products.
- Familiarity with equipment, machinery, and tools used in meat preparation.
- Supervisory experience preferred with ability to lead and coach employees in a fast-paced environment.
- Must successfully pass food safety certification every 3 years.
- Strong math, organizational, and communication skills.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Must be able to transfer to other store locations within a reasonable commute.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

- Fast-paced retail meat and seafood setting with direct customer interaction.
- Exposure to perishable products, refrigerated coolers, prep areas, and changing conditions.
